Concern Regarding Distracting Flags on Metz Way

Reported via desktop in the Personal advertising category anonymously at 08:54, Wednesday 6 May 2026

Sent to Gloucester City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9406543.

Dear Gloucester City Council, I am writing to raise a concern about a series of flags currently displayed along Metz Way in Gloucester, which appear to be associated with Blue Sky Signs. These flags are positioned in close proximity to the highway and are highly noticeable to passing drivers. While I understand the intention may be promotional, their movement and visual prominence can be distracting, particularly along a busy route like Metz Way where driver attention is critical for safety. I am concerned that this could increase the risk of accidents, especially during periods of heavy traffic or adverse weather conditions when concentration is already reduced. Roadside environments should be kept as free from unnecessary distractions as possible to ensure the safety of all road users. I would appreciate it if the Council could review this situation and assess whether the placement of these flags complies with local regulations and road safety guidelines. If not, I would urge appropriate action to mitigate any potential hazard. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
